1. Keeps your dollars local
In recent years, there has been a huge movement to buy local. Supporting local businesses can play a huge role in changing the atmosphere of your community.
There is a well known quote from an unknown source that says,
At Schrader Farms, every purchase goes beyond supporting our family. Most importantly, it’s helping all of our team members support their families!
One of our core values when opening Schrader Farms Meat Market was to create a business and atmosphere where we could be a blessing in our employees’ lives. So, thank YOU for allowing us to do that!
Now, we know that you can’t ALWAYS buy local, but when given the option, it is so powerful to know that you are impacting people’s lives!
2. Buying meat becomes an experience, not a chore
When you buy meat locally, you become an integral part of the farm. If you stop by the farm store, you’ll probably see Keith wandering through occasionally, and it’s a great time to interact with the farmer who is actually raising your meat.
Did you know that you can follow us on Instagram to see what life on the farm is really like? It’s our way of letting you experience the farm personally!
3. You get a better product
Most small butcher shops must follow stricter regulations regarding cleanliness and bacteria testing than a supermarket. We have a USDA inspector on-site everyday who watches us like a hawk. I wish this was an exaggeration, but they literally analyze everything we do. Phew, talk about pressure!
Our products are also more customizable because our butchers can (usually) change the size, weight, or shape of any meat cut. You can also place a special order for the exact cut and weight you need.
We truly exist to meet your needs!
4. We love our animals
Most farmers feed their cows twice a day, and it's more than just a chore or a responsibility. It is an opportunity for farmers to check on all of their animals to ensure that they are healthy and happy. You might’ve heard Keith say that he gives each of his cows a tickle under the chin each day. Some of them don’t like to be tickled, but they do appreciate being warm and well-fed!
One of our favorite quotes from Kyle Ingham says, “The most important advantage a good butcher offers over the supermarket is transparency.” It’s something that you’ll hear from us often because we really believe it’s true.
